What is a credit?

One credit equals one render, whether the output is a PNG image or a PDF document. Downloads of an already-rendered file are free and unlimited, so once it exists on the i.html2img.com CDN, you can serve it as many times as you want without consuming additional credits. Renders made on a paid plan stay live permanently. Free-tier renders are kept for 7 days, and upgrading makes every render you have already made permanent.

How many credits do I need?

SaaS sending invoices on payment

50 invoices a day equals around 1,500 a month. The $25 plan covers it with headroom for retries and previews.

Editorial blog with a back catalogue

Twenty posts a month, each needing an Open Graph card, a Twitter card and a hero image, is 60 renders. Rebrand and regenerate 300 archived posts and that is another 900 in an afternoon. The $9 plan covers both.

Shop generating product cards

200 products with 3 card variants each, regenerated as prices and stock change, comes to around 2,500 renders in a busy month. The $25 plan covers it.

Course platform issuing certificates

3,000 course completions a month, each generating a certificate as a PNG for sharing and a PDF for download, is 6,000 renders. Add Open Graph cards for new course pages and you are near 7,000. The $60 plan covers it with headroom.

MCP server

Paid plans include the MCP server

Every paid plan includes the MCP server, so AI assistants like Claude, Cursor and VS Code can generate images straight from a chat. Your API key doubles as the connection token, and each render uses one credit just like the API. The free tier does not include MCP access.

  • Included on every paid plan
  • Same credits, same render queue as the REST API
  • Your API key is the connection token

What you can render on any plan

Pricing FAQ

Can I pay yearly?

Yes. Contact us for a yearly invoice with a small discount. The form at /contact routes yearly billing to the right place.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. HTML to Image gives you 50 free renders when you sign up, no card needed. All 50 are available immediately rather than drip-fed monthly, a PDF costs the same single credit as a PNG, and every feature except the MCP server is included. Free renders are hosted for 7 days; renders made on any paid plan are hosted permanently.

Is the MCP server included?

The MCP server is available on every paid plan. The free tier does not include MCP access. Once you are on a paid plan, your API key works as the MCP bearer token, and each image an AI assistant generates uses one credit like any other render.

Do PDFs cost more than images?

No. A PDF render costs one credit, exactly the same as a PNG, on every plan including the free tier. Add format: "pdf" to any request and the credit maths does not change.

How long are renders hosted?

Renders made on a paid plan are hosted on the i.html2img.com CDN permanently, for the lifetime of the account. Free-tier renders are hosted for 7 days. Upgrading to any paid plan makes every render you have already made permanent, so nothing you built while evaluating is lost.

What happens if I exceed my plan?

Requests return a clear out-of-credits error until your credits renew or you upgrade. Nothing is charged automatically beyond the plan rate. On paid plans the response includes your renewal date so you can pace your fallback; on the free tier it points at the upgrade path, since free credits are a one-time allowance.

Do unused credits roll over?

Paid credits reset on the renewal date, so they do not roll over month to month. If you regularly use less than your plan covers, downgrade from the dashboard at any time. The 50 free signup credits work differently: they are a single balance that stays until you have used it.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes, from the dashboard. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. You keep access to renders you already paid for.

Is there a setup fee?

No. The price you see on the ladder above is the only price. No onboarding charge, no per-seat charge, no overage that hits your card without permission.

Do you offer non-profit or open-source discounts?

Yes, on a case-by-case basis. Email us through /contact with a note about the project. We have approved discounts for open-source maintainers and registered non-profits in the past.

How does HTML to Image compare?

Looking at the alternatives is a sensible step. We've put together honest side-by-side comparisons against the four services people most often weigh up against HTML to Image.

Need more than 100,000 credits?

Custom enterprise plans include priority support, volume discounts and yearly invoicing.
